To Whom It May Concern:
I am requesting access to records in the possession or control of San Francisco Public Works for the purpose of inspection and copying pursuant to the California Public Records Act, Cal. Gov. Code § 6250, et seq. and San Francisco Administrative Code § 67.20, et seq. The specific records I seek to access, inspect, and copy are the following:
- Any and all records initiating Public Records Request #20-2380
- Any and all records listing the name and/or other identifying information of the individual(s) who prepared and/or submitted Public Records Request #20-2380
For your reference, Public Records Request #20-2380 requested communications between staff at San Francisco Public Works, and the following individuals in Supervisor Haney’s office: Matt Haney, Abigail Rivamonte Mesa, Courtney McDonald, Honey Mahogany or Han Zou. The request was for communications from January 10, 2018, through June 22, 2020.
As used herein, “record” includes “public records” and “writing” as defined in Cal. Gov. Code § 6252(e),(g). See also S.F. Admin. Code § 67.20(b) (defining “public information”).
If you contend that any portion of the records requested are exempt from disclosure, Cal. Gov. Code § 6253(a) requires segregation and redaction of that material so that the remainder of records may be released. If you contend that all or a portion of the records requested are exempt from disclosure, Cal. Gov. Code § 6253(c) requires that you notify me of the reasons for that determination no later than 10 days from your receipt of this request. I request that any such determination, that my request is denied in part or fully, be reduced to writing and include the name and title of the individual responsible for the Agency’s response. See Cal. Gov. Code §6253; § Cal. Gov. Code § 6255.
In responding to this request, please be mindful that San Francisco’s Sunshine Ordinance also requires that “[n]o record shall be withheld from disclosure in its entirety unless all information contained in it is exempt from disclosure under express provisions of the California Public Records Act or of some other statute.” S.F. Admin. Code. § 67.26. If you believe that certain information is exempt from disclosure it shall be “masked, deleted or otherwise segregated in order that the nonexempt portion of the requested record may be released…” S.F. Admin. Code § 67.26.
Thank you for your timely attention to this matter. Pursuant to Cal. Gov. Code § 6253(c), I anticipate a response to this public records request within 10 calendar days.
